Starting on Thursday, June 29, sailing yachts will take over central Stockholm. The temporary marina, built by the City of Stockholm, around sailing ship af Chapman on Skeppsholmen, can hold 300 sailboats. The reason is the Royal Swedish Yacht Club's (KSSS) classic race around Gotland - ÅF Offshore Race.
The event has in recent years evolved from an ocean racing for the hardcore, to a public event where the start day attracts 100,000's of spectators. From Thursday June 29 to Sunday, July 2 the event area is full of life. There are several dining options with everything from simple dishes to fancy places with table service. Musical entertainment and performances on the main stage on Skeppsholmen. And in the sponsor area are 40 exhibitors with many great offers. But above all, you can visit the pontoons and see the yachts that are the heart of the ÅF Offshore Race. Admission is free.
The main race starts in the morning Sunday, July 2. The boats sail through the archipelago, around Gotland and finish in Sandhamn 2-3 days later.
