Furiosa still in front

2018-07-02 - ÅF Offshore Race Furiosa, a Cookson 50 with Rolf Relander from Estonia as Skipper, still leads the fleet around Gotland. They passed the mark outside of Visby at 11.28 am and the next checkpoint will be Almagrundet, 10 Nautical miles before the finish.

The leading yachts passed Hoburgen, the southern tip of Gotland, early this morning. Almost a forth of the boats following them have passed the mark since then and in the Classics class, the leading boats have rounded the mark at Visby.

It has been a rough first 24 hours of the race, for both the teams and their equipment. 40 boats have retired from the race so far.Ballad has the lead in the Classics class, and is fighting closely with Refanut. Britt-Marie has retired due to a rudder breakdown.

First around Hoburgen in the SRS A class was Vitres (MC31) and Flyt (Arcona 465).

In SRS B reports from Hoburgen showed Amarone (Grand Soleil 37) in the lead, followed by Shakira (Dehler 36) and Sara (Farr 31).

In SRS Big ORCi A at Hoburgen, Furiosa lead Regina 2.0 (Club Swan 50) and Matador (Elliot 44 CR) around the mark.

Class ORCi B+C has Muchacha II (XP38) in the lead at Hoburgen followed by Datacom (M.A.T 1180) and Bianco (First 35).
