Coca-Cola European Partners new Main partner of KSSS
2019-06-06 - ÅF Offshore Race
The ocean is the sailor's arena and the power to the sails come from the wind. For KSSS, it is therefore natural to work with partners who care about our environment and want to contribute to a better world. Now KSSS is initiating a collaboration with Coca-Cola European Partners who will help to create awareness about sustainability issues.
The Royal Swedish Sailing Club (KSSS) has a wide range of activities ranging from beginner and test-sailing to elite sailors. The sea and nature are a natural part of the activities. KSSS try to find partnerships with partners who share the club's vision that we can make a difference and create a better world together.
Coca-Cola has an ambitious strategy for the Western Europe, where Sweden is a leader in several areas. The strategy includes, among other things, to lower climate footprint, to reduce sugar content in the drinks, reduced water consumption, sustainable transport and, not least, sustainable packaging.
- We work continuously to increase the amount of recycled plastic in our bottles. In order to increase that figure, the packages must enter the recycling system. Coca-Cola in Sweden has the commitment that each can and bottle should be collected and not become garbage or end up in nature. We are already working hard to increase awareness of the need for collection and by becoming the main partner of KSSS we hope to reach even more, says Lisa Wahlström, Communications and Sustainability Director at Coca-Cola European Partners in Sweden.
For KSSS, it is a natural collaboration when we share the same goals.
- It feels really good to cooperate with Coca-Cola European Partners. Our cooperation will in many ways be about informing about the importance of recycling in Sweden. Although Sweden is the world leader we want to do more, especially to reduce littering in our nature and instead make sure that it is collected and recycled. Through KSSS sailing camps, training activities, sailing competitions and ports in the archipelago, we can inform about this in a natural and relevant way in places where we normally do not reach as well. In addition, as an internationally leading club, we can influence sailors and clubs around the world to hook up the recycling work where Sweden is the world leader, says Stefan Rahm, Club Director at KSSS.
The starting point for the co-operation with Coca-Cola European Partners will be the world's largest annual ocean race ÅF Offshore Race, where Coca-Cola will be present.
